World Aids Day
I normally don't like to blog about things happening in the world, although I think this is fight against more then aids only it is an fight against discrimination, disease and preconceptions. I think the truth is that; even a small voice can help.
But what can we do? Join the GBC?
The GBC is the pre-eminent organization leading the business fight against HIV/AIDS. The rapidly expanding alliance of international companies is dedicated to combating the AIDS epidemic through the business sector's unique skills and expertise.
Our mission is to harness the power of the global business community to end the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
HIV/AIDS should be a core business issue for every company, particularly those with interests in heavily affected countries. With the support of global leaders in government, business and civil society, the GBC promotes greater partnerships in the global response to HIV/AIDS, identifying new, innovative opportunities for the business sector to join the growing global movement against this terrible disease.
Discussion
It is always bit odd to me this kind of events. Certainly it is a good thing that people do care about the rest of the world, but why does it has to have a date? To me it is like christmas suddenly everyone need have the thought "peace on earth". Why can't we just think about such things on a average day ? Do people only care about social problems when they are pointed on it?
Just think about it, when is the last time you thought about people having hunger or something like aids ? So I never really know what to think about such events. In one way it is good to remind people of the horrors in the world but in the same way it strikes me odd that people only care at that certain moment.
