A usability test on Drupal 7, to understand the large number of issues and communicate these too the community.
This study was performed at the University of Baltimore, where 12 participants from beginners to experienced Drupal users where asked to build a conference site. My role was being project lead, meaning that I created the test plan, planned the analysis process, recruitment of participants and worked on the community communication in collaboration with Becca Scollan.
It was a true challenge bringing together 7 observers from several timezones, choosing the right participants and communicating the results in a way that they would make a significant impact in the Drupal community. We where able to share our results with the community by creating a usability results website allowing them to take on the large and smaller issues that we found.
We shared the participant videos and build a framework for further testing of Drupal, such as the Drupal Usability testing Kit, which is now used as basis for usability tests performed on Drupal core.
