The first time I ran into a good Information Architecture book (The Louis Rosenfeld one is still a bit to hard for me). Was Information Architecture from Christina Wodtke, which had some impressive subjects. Especially about the big mistake that webmasters make about how users only scan and don't really read content. A good example of this are Reviews that are most likely to be read, but instead most reviews will be scanned for quotes and information to determain the pro's and con's of the game/book quickly.
I must say not to much is new to me in this book, but it's written very well and can help me explain to people why they should first create a Blueprint with paper and a pencil. Unfortunately most websites these days are first created within the Photoshop layers and you cant really see the big picture untill its finsihed. I would recommend this book to anyone without knowledge of Information Architecture.
Some usefull quotes :
Christina Wodtke "This is fun for me and for most information architects. We tend to like big messy nightmare problems that we can tidy up. So we make a nice living by taking a lot of disorganized information and making it useful for people."
Christina Wodtke "People don't want to be offered stuff they don't want. It's as simple as that. Make ads contextual and useful if you want people to click on them.
